We will begin our coaching relationship by exploring your reasons for seeking coaching, and setting out what you hope to achieve by the process. This will be carried out by a free consultation email exchange (more details below).
When we are ready to proceed with your first coaching email, I will invite you to write an email in your own time, exploring the topic you would like to work on.
Once you send your email to me, I will read it carefully and send you a coaching response (usually within 2 working days). This is likely to include reflections and observations on what you have discussed, and questions for you to consider. I may offer suggestions to help guide you to challenge your thoughts or consider things from a different perspective. I will ask you to consider possible options and create a plan for moving forward, and may offer suggestions to guide you in this process. I will also invite you to send me an update on your progress.
Where appropriate, I may offer resources, advice, personal experience and self-disclosure. It is your choice to decide what information to use. You are never under any obligation to take any course of action.
Before I send my full response, I may need to contact you with any questions I have. This may be to check my understanding or to ask for further information. This doesn’t count towards the response you’ve paid for, and won’t incur any extra charge.
Number of sessions
As coaching usually works best as a conversation between client and coach, you may find it most effective to have at least two email exchanges. However, this is not obligatory, and you are welcome to book one standalone email exchange if you prefer. You can choose to end the coaching relationship at any time and are never obligated to book further coaching.
Concise email exchange - £20
Your email to me can be up to 450 words, and my response will be around the same length. This can work best if you have one clear topic you would like to work on, if you prefer to spread out our correspondence creating a more conversational exchange, or if you’re simply looking for a lower cost option.
In-depth email exchange - £40
Your email to me can be up to 900 words, and my response will be around the same length. This gives you more space for deeper reflection and may suit you if you prefer to communicate giving more depth and detail than a shorter email would allow. Naturally, this will also be reflected in my response.
Sessions are priced on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Life Coaching via email may be preferred by some clients as an alternative to live coaching sessions. It can also be arranged as an addition to live sessions.
Email coaching may be a good fit if you have a busy schedule and struggle to find an ideal time for a live session. Emailing means that you can choose to write at the time that is most convenient for you. Many people find writing cathartic and it can be a way to express your feelings immediately without having to wait for a live session.
It can also be a more suitable choice for people who find it easier to express themselves in writing rather than verbally in a live video session. For some, taking the time to put their situation into writing gives the needed time to process one’s thoughts and feelings in a way that is more difficult during verbal interactions, resulting in deeper awareness than may arise during a live session.
The simple act of writing the email may start the process of clarifying and reflecting, in a similar way to the practice of journaling. Similarly, receiving my reply by email allows for my response and questions to be processed and considered in the timeframe that works best for you.
Many people also find it useful to keep a record of emails, and to be able to refer back to them at a later date. This may help you to track your progress and personal development, and for future self-reflection.
Please contact me and let me know that you’re interested in having email coaching.
I will contact you to offer you a free email consultation. This involves answering a few questions by email to outline your reasons for seeking coaching and what you hope to achieve from the process. When I receive your completed email I will send you a response and my suggestions for arranging coaching. This initial email exchange is entirely free of charge, and there will be no obligation to book coaching if you do not wish to do so.
If you are happy to proceed, we will then arrange for your first full coaching email and I will send an invoice accordingly. This must be paid before I send my coaching response. I will also include my coaching agreement for you to read and sign.
All coaching emails will be sent to and from a secure email address to help to keep our correspondence as confidential as possible.
I look forward to hearing from you!
